Indonesia has celebrated Independence Day in its future new capital metropolis Nusantara for the primary time – with scaled-back festivities as development continues.
The nation had hoped to formally inaugurate town on the 79th anniversary of its declaration of independence in 1945 after centuries of Dutch rule after which Japanese occupation throughout World Warfare Two.
However the challenge, on the island of Borneo, has been hit with development delays and funding issues.
It’s set to be the most important legacy of outgoing President Joko Widodo, who attended occasions alongside his successor Prabowo Subianto.
