Rookie Jacob Bridgeman shot a career-low 8-under 63 to take a one-stroke lead after the primary spherical of the 3M Open on Thursday in Blaine, Minn.
The 24-year-old Bridgeman completed with 9 birdies, together with three in a row on Nos. 12-14 at TPC Twin Cities. The Clemson product, who has but to win on the PGA Tour, had one bogey (on the par-4 ninth gap) however birdied his final two holes to complete one stroke forward of Canada’s Mackenzie Hughes (64).
Hughes collected seven birdies to complete one shot forward of Patrick Rodgers, Andrew Novak and France’s Martin Coach.
Sahith Theegala and 7 others shot a first-round 66 and are three pictures off the tempo. Tony Finau (67) is amongst a big contingent 4 pictures again.
